About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! My name is Olivia Renner and I am currently a student at Rider University in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. I am majoring in Communications with a track in public relations and a minor in event planning.
Every girl has once dreamed of her perfect birthday to the perfect fairytale wedding, from the time I was able to understand this I knew that I wanted to be the one to enable all the fun and excitement of these events to be possible in someone’s life. I have always wanted to pursue a career in Public Relations and event planning.

I am currently balancing classes and am a Rider cheerleader and have been a cheerleader and on gymnastic teams my whole life. I have found that being a part of a team has helped me build the qualities of leadership and teamwork to complete the task at hand and are qualities that can help me succeed in the work force.

I have recently decided that I am going to look for an internship that is offered through the school to gain more experience and allow for me to have more opportunities in my future. My major and minor are not easy to succeed in and have a lot to do with networking. I am willing to do whatever it takes to make big steps towards a successful future.

Team Work in the work force

Cheerleading has played a very large role in my life, it has taught me very many qualities that are going to play a role in my future career. I started cheerleading when I was three and have found that I have learned very many useful things from cheerleading and being a part of a team. Being on a athletic team has taught me to work hard with people to complete a task or a goal, this quality is something that is going to be very use full in my career. With event planning I will be working with very many people to complete a common goal and complete a task. I have also found that with cheerleading has come a great deal of responsibly. Needing to be on time and be responsible with balancing very many different task as well as my school work has also taught me a large amount of responsibility that will come in handy in my field of work.

My PSA

In my Voice and Articulation, we were asked to create a PSA for a nonprofit organization that we felt strongly about. I chose to do my PSA on the nonprofit organization Mothers Against Drunk Driving. I chose to do MADD for my PSA because my best friend’s life was taken from drunk driving and I have a strong passion and connection with this organization. I used Slide Share to create this PSA. This type of technology is something that I can bring to corporation as another way to share the accomplishments as well as pictures of the things that have been done by the organization.

Tiger Woods Recordings

We were asked to complete a recording of a speech that Tiger Woods had made. I chose to put this up because the first recording was the first ever recording that I had done for this class and using Audacity. After posting the recording we were given feedback and constructive criticism on how to improve the recording.

I chose to incorporate the re-record on my blog because I feel as though it shows that I am willing and open to criticism as well as open to make changes to improve. I also chose to incorporate this into my blog because I feel that is allows for others to hear how my voice has improved and changed over time.

Miley Cyrus Recording

I wanted to add my re-record of a Miley Cyrus interview to this e portfolio because with this project I was able to hear some severe problems with speech and prevent myself from letting them occur to me. This is Miley's interview, it begins at minute 4:30.
I was able to re-record Miley’s voice in a more clear and articulated. I find her voice to very hard to follow, she runs her beginnings and ends of her words together. While doing my re-record I wanted to take my time to speak each word from beginning to end allowing the listener to hear exactly what I was saying.
